The Methods
Think of it this way: each method attaches the extra hair in a way that affects how long they last, how natural they look and feel, and how much maintenance is involved.

K-Tip
The Long-Lasting and Natural Movement
Imagine individual strands of hair that blend seamlessly with your own. That’s the beauty of K-tip extensions.
- The Process: K-tip extensions are individual hair strands with a keratin-based tip. This tip is bonded to separate strands of your natural hair using a specialized heat tool. The keratin creates a strong and secure bond.
- Look and Feel: Because they are applied strand by strand, K-tips offer the most natural look and feel, mimicking the way your own hair grows. They allow for 360-degree movement, making styling very easy and natural-looking.
- Durability: K-tip extensions are the longest-lasting of these three methods. Their bonds are quite strong and can withstand regular washing and styling.
- Maintenance: Unlike sew-ins and tape-ins that get “moved up,” K-tip extensions are typically installed and then left in place to grow out with your natural hair. Because of this, they don’t require move-up appointments in the same way. Instead, a new set of K-tips is usually recommended every 12-14 weeks as the attached hair has grown out significantly.
- Considerations: K-Tips are an excellent option for those wanting a natural look and are committed to longer wear. Keratin extensions can be customized to your needs—whether you’re looking to add density and fill in damaged or thinning areas, or you’re going for extra length and dimension for a fuller, more voluminous look.
Hand-Tied and Sew-In
The Secure Foundation
Imagine building a strong and lasting foundation for your extensions. That’s what a hand-tied and sew-in does.
- The Process: The hair is anchored into sections secured in a bead, and then wefts of extension hair (which come in long strips) are sewn directly onto these beads using a needle and thread.
- Look and Feel: Hand-tied and sew-ins are known for being very secure and can significantly transform length and volume. Because the wefts are sewn in, they lay flat against your head, contributing to a natural blend.
- Durability: This method is quite durable and can withstand a lot of styling. You can treat them like your own hair when it comes to washing and styling.
- Maintenance: As your natural hair grows, the braids will loosen, and the extensions will move further away from your scalp. We recommend a “move-up” appointment every 10-12 weeks. During this appointment, the extensions are removed, the beads are redone, and the wefts are re-sewn closer to your scalp.
- Considerations: Hand-tied and sew-ins are an excellent option for many hair types. However, keeping your scalp clean and moisturized underneath the wefts is crucial to prevent discomfort or issues.

Tape-In
The Discreet and Versatile Choice
Think of tape-ins as a more flexible and less involved way to add volume and length.
- The Process: Tape-in extensions consist of small, individual hair wefts with a special adhesive tape at the base. These wefts are “sandwiched” between sections of your natural hair, close to the root.
- Look and Feel: Tape-ins are lightweight and lie flat against the head. This makes them virtually seamless and fantastic for achieving a natural look. They move very naturally with your own hair.
- Versatility: Because the wefts are individual, they can be placed strategically to add volume in specific areas or create layered effects. They are also quite versatile for different hairstyles.
- Maintenance: Similar to sew-ins, the tape-in extensions must be moved up as your natural hair grows. We recommend a move-up every 6-8 weeks. During this process, the extensions are gently removed using a special solution, the old tape is replaced, and the tape is re-applied closer to the scalp.
- Considerations: Due to their lightweight and flat application, tape-ins are excellent for most hair types, including fine hair. However, using sulfate-free shampoos is vital to prevent the tape from slipping and avoid applying oily products directly at the roots.
In Summary
- For maximum transformation and durability (suitable for medium to thick hair): Sew-In.
- For a lightweight, seamless look and versatility (suitable for most hair types, including fine): Tape-In.
- For the most natural look and movement with the longest wear time: K-Tip.
